It may sound simple, but when things start to feel too heavy, I ask for help. It’s one of the toughest things to do (at least for me). But I’ve come to learn that If most of the tools I’ve listed here aren’t enough, I need extra help and book additional sessions with my trusted therapist (who’ve I’ve been supported by for over 6 years now). Sometimes that means seeing my therapist twice or thrice in the same week.
There’s absolutely no shame in that—and it doesn’t mean you’ll always need that level of support or that you’ve slipped up or that the work you’re doing isn’t working. It’s not a setback. It does not cancel out all of your hard work up until now. Life is messy and inconsistent and like everything, sometimes we need more help than others and that’s true for everyone. If help is available, seize it as an opportunity, as a fast lane to do better quicker. asking for help is a strength, a super power that we too often consider a weakness or associate with shame. But no one in life moves forward as people that ask for help (companies, projects…).
