I’m not the routine kind of person, so this one was a bit of a strange one for me.
I don’t do well with strict routines, so I tried to find a couple of things that would help me on a daily basis, that were consistent and create a frame for me. I’ve built simple routines into my days to help me stay grounded and create emotional stability. And it’s true that I’ve found that Having more structure, and fewer unknowns, has helped reduce my mental load and anxiety. I don’t have to constantly decide what to do or when to do it, which makes my days feel calmer and more manageable.
- Evening/Bedtime Routine: I usually go to bed around 10:30 PM. Starting my day around 7:30 or 8:00 PM, I put my phone away and have an app that shuts down all of my apps at around 8:30pm, to minimize distractions. This time becomes an opportunity to read, draw, play or enjoy a meaningful moment with my partner.
- Morning Routine: Most mornings, I’ve created a simple ritual to ease into the day. I start by preparing a warm drink, take my supplements, and then take about 5 minutes to breathe deeply and/or do gentle yoga stretches. It’s a quiet way to reconnect with myself before the day begins.
- Planning Short-Term Joys: I also make a point to plan short-term activities that I can look forward to, whether that’s a weekend getaway, a vacation, or even just a special meal. These little things help keep me motivated and bring lightness into my schedule. You can read this post on this:
These simple routines aren’t about perfection. They’re about giving myself a steady base to come back to when everything else feels uncertain. Even just one small ritual can make a difference., feel free to give it a try if you feel this is right.
And if you'd like more inspirations, in terms of activities you can look up:
- The Miracle Morning (not to wake up a 4 am, but brows the different activities offered : journaling daily, affirmations, visualisation...)
- Atomic habits, from James Clear, which is a great book about how to set up routines and gives some examples. I read it, apply some of it. But Love the guy and his newsletter.
Next time, I’ll open up about how food and a few supplements help me feel calmer and more balanced day to day.
